3 Easy Summer Grilling Tips

Summer grilling is easy. All you have to do is whip out the grill and throw on a few pieces of meat. Ok, maybe I simplified the process too much. But grilling isn’t something that’s too difficult. Even if you are not the best cook, here are three easy summer grilling trips to try during your next cook out.

Cleaning tips: if you have a grill that needs to be cleaned, preheat it first. The heat will kill the bacteria and make it easier to get rid of any grime.

Chicken tips: cook chicken with indirect heat to get a nice and slow cook. Also go with thighs instead of breasts for a fuller, juicier flavor. Breast will dry out quicker.

Beef tips: most pieces of beef should be cooked with high heat. Beef should be kept juicy, and cooking with medium to low heat will only dry the meat out.

3 Classic Father’s Day Gifts For Dad

Father’s Day comes every single year at the same time in June, yet most of us continue to scramble around at the beginning of the month trying to figure out what to get dad. Suddenly we forget what dad likes, or what size he wears, or what hobbies he has. But do not panic, if you are stuck on a gift for dad, here are three classic Father’s Day gift ideas.

Custom Photo Book: dads love pictures of their kids or grand kids, so create a custom photo book with all those great memories. There are dozens of apps on the market that can help you make something or you can just head over to the local Walmart.

Tie: if you have a father who loves to dress up, ties are a must. However, skip the “World’s Greatest Dad” ties and get something stylish that he can wear to the office.

Coffee mug: however, if you really want to get dad something that shows how he really is the “World’s Greatest Dad” go with a fun coffee mug.

DIY: 5 Summer-Inspired Centerpieces

Wanting to add some subtle pops of color throughout your home?

Arrangements are the way to go! Check out these 5 DIY centerpieces:

  1. For all the veggie lovers, get a large clear container filled with distilled water. Then arrange a bundle of carrots and kohlrabi with leaves attached, along with large branches of green cherry tomatoes.
  2. If that idea is too out-of-the-box for your taste, source thin-stemed vases and add single stems to the mixed glassware.
  3. Old metal boxes and lunch pails make for a unique flower container. White hydrangeas, viburnum, and other oversized florals will complement the antique containers.
  4. Or, if you prefer the desert, use a cake stand and some moss to help create a stunning succulent centerpiece.
  5. A vintage silver water pitcher can double as a sturdy vase. Use it to show off bundles of red and white radishes, held together by rubber bands.

Fun and Inexpensive Summer Décor Tips

Summer is about having fun and getting in an adventure or two, so why not spice up your apartment’s décor and create something fun and summer inspired? Here are a few tips.

Firewood: most apartment units do not have fireplaces, but don’t let that stop you from being artsy. Grab some fire wood and arrange it in a stylish way in your living room and let it act as a décor piece. The smell of the wood will make your apartment feel like a summer night.

Coffee table: coffee tables are one of the easiest ways to change up your décor. Grab something with a bold summer color and let it turn into a conversation piece. You can also repaint an existing coffee table if you do not want to purchase a new one.

Centerpieces: centerpieces with fresh flowers are a great way to get summer into your apartment. Grab a few interesting and fun vases and put flowers in them and place the pieces on your side tables (you can even put some in a bathroom).

How to Clean Your Apartment With Two Chemical-Free Products

Clorox and Zep aren’t the only two products available on the market for cleaning. Instead try these two kitchen ingredients:

For sinks, wet the surface areas and sprinkle with baking soda, then use a toothbrush to scrub the area. You can also line the sink with paper towels soaked in white vinegar. Let sit for 20 minutes.

For garbage disposals pour a half cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by a cup of white vinegar. Pour boiling water down the drain, followed by two cups ice and one cup rock salt. Turn on the garbage disposal, then using a lime or lemon, and run it through the disposal as well.

For bathroom surfaces, mix baking soda and liquid soap in a bowl. Then dilute with water and vinegar. Combine the mixture before pouring the liquid into a spray bottle. Squirt the mixture across all surfaces and scrub with a nylon sponge. Rinse with water.

3 Easy Spring Cleaning Hacks

Spring cleaning might be boring, but the cleaning process can become a bit more fun when you have a few awesome hacks to try. Spring cleaning is also a great way to stay on track with getting your deposit back at the end of your lease. Here are three tips.

Use car wax: use car wax to prevents stains on your stove or toilet bowl. For the toilet, remove the water (just flush and shut off the water valve) and wax the inside of the bowl.

Shaving cream for stains: if you have a stain on your cloths or couches, and do not have the right stain remover, just use shaving cream instead. The cream is basically whipped soap, so it will work great.

Vodka on a mattress: mattresses are tough to clean, so use mix of vodka and water in a spray bottle to disinfect your bed.
